Regarding the shroffs that I have got - with the exception of Mr.
Tsui, will you tell me what length of experience they have had before they came to my department, on an average?
I don't know exactly but I should say we have had them about three weeks to a month for training. That is very indefinite, I can not check that at the moment.
In any case apart from this man Tsui they are not shroffs with a great deal of Government experience?
No.
Would you say that the department as a whole has shroffs with less than the ordinary amount of training that shroffs in other departments have?
No, I would not like to say that because I do not know what training
is given to shroffs in other departments before they come into that department.
Experience then?
They must have had less experience because the department has been
in existence for only a short period.
Comparing my department with the Post Office, the P.W.D. or Medical
Department, the shroffs on an average are less experienc ed?
With less Government experience, some of them may have had experience outside.
They are mainly young men?
Yes.
So that they could not have had very much experience outside? No.
Are you aware regarding the question of keeping myself conversant with the position I have instituted a weekly report for myself to ascertain what the weekly turnover is, what the stock is and which particular form should be replenished?
No, I did not know that.
